Elizabete Liepiņa

Movement in harmony with nature's rhythm

About

Elizabete Liepiņa moves through the world as both seeker and storyteller, tracing the ephemeral lines where language dissolves into movement. Her artistic journey began not in the studio, but in the quiet precision of words—earning a professional bachelor’s degree in translation and interpreting before delving into the labyrinth of postmodern English literature in her master’s studies at University of Latvia and University of Oslo.

Since 2016, Elizabete has carved a self-made path through the landscapes of contemporary dance, contact improvisation, somatic exploration, ballet and immersed herself in the world of kung-fu training and philosophy. She has honed her craft across festivals, summer schools, both locally and abroad, where she continues to refine her movement research focusing on instinct and structure. To obtain a professional dance education, in 2023 Elizabete enrolled in a professional contemporary dance teacher’s programm at LKA Latvian Culture College.

Her experience as a trainer’s assistant at Riga Circus School and a teacher’s assistant at Riga German School has expanded her pedagogical perspective, enriching her approach to teaching and movement facilitation. Her work with NGOs in personal safety education for children empowered her understanding about empathy, patience and acceptance. She is also an active member of Latvia’s Contact Improvisation community, organizing classes and jams that invite dancers into a shared space of inquiry and play.

Through movement, she seeks not only to express, but to listen—to the weight of gravity, the momentum of another, the stories that live within breath and gesture.
